Limited edition of 2,375 numbered copies, this one is one of the 2,000 numbered on Plumex paper of the Teka mills.
Famous surrealist book. It's the second limited edition of 1947 of this four handed collection ("Les mains libres" referring to automatic drawing) born of the friendship between Man Ray (1890-1976) and Paul Eluard (1895-1952). The first edition was published in 1937 by the editor Jeanne Bucher. This collection includes a frontispiece, a preface by Paul Eluard, 54 drawings and poems, and then a part dedicated to the Marquis de Sade: two imaginary portraits representative and commented by Eluard. Following a section titled "Portraits" that has six drawings of portraits of friends and relatives of the two men. Finally there is a section called 'Detail', which counts four details of drawings of Man Ray, from the collection itself
