21st century, Brussels, Belgium
Unique work of art by ceramist Claire Chuet from her own studio in Schaarbeek, Brussels. In perfect condition.
Very decorative vase or plant pot with a flat bottom and a special drain, allowing to pour out the water and replenish it without having to take the flower arrangement out. Can also be used as a brush holder.
Various blue and old-green tints with a speckled grey-white finish.
Manual brush strokes are visible here and there. Moss-green edges at the bottom.
The used material is clay mixed with metal oxides.
The shape was completely manually modelled by Claire.
It underwent a first firing at 950 degrees.
After that it was also fully glazed on the inside in order to make it perfectly waterproof, and also for sturdiness.
Next is the colouring process.
Blue colours mixed with metal oxides and water, and is applied with a brush or a pistol.
The mixture of the used oxides determines the final colour.
The object is fired for a second time at 1,250 degrees, making it fully waterproof, and gets its final appearance.
Height: 12 cm.
Diameter: Varies between 9.5 and 10.5 cm.
