In good and used condition
An antique English watercolour (painter’s) box manufactured in the late 19th/early 20th century of light (pine) wood and plywood. On the inside are 25 boxes for the colour tablets, most of which are still the original ones! On either side there are four boxes for porcelain bowls to mix the colours, three of these are still present. And at the bottom there are two longer compartments for brushes and other accessories. Most tablets have a crown, with above it the unfortunately illegible name of the manufacturer and underneath it the word "colours". In the box there are also a number of smaller and thinner tablets with only (horizontal) a crown, these date back to the Victorian-period ca. 1840-1900. The box still has the original brass hinges and is at the front lockable with the brass brackets. At the bottom the number 240 is written with purple paint, and there are figures & words written with pencil. The box has a nice warm golden yellow colour and silky gloss. A nice object to keep using or for the collector!
Height: 3.5 cm - Width: 29 cm. depth 19 cm.
