Imari porcelain shaving basin -
barbers bowl - Japan - 18th century (Edo period)

Made in exquisite colours with royal blue and red.

In the shaving basin you will find an attractive composition of a Japanese house with garden in a floral decoration.

The back is also painted beautifully with flowers.

Imari (伊万里市, Imari-shi) is a Japanese city in the prefecture of Saga. Imari porcelain is named after the place in Japan where the porcelain was shipped to overseas continents.

The plate can be hung if so desired.
It has two holes, so a cord can be attached.

A wonderful object for your collection, suitable to just put down or for hanging in the living room or in the bathroom.
In perfect condition. No hairline cracks, no chips, no restorations.

Drs. P. Buurman of the Venduehuis in The Hague valued this Imari shaving basin at an amount of €350-400.

The diameter of the shaving basin is 28.8 cm.
The height is 4 cm.

The item will be packaged very carefully and the box will be shipped with a Track & Trace code.
