Rare map of Flanders and a part of Brabant by Barent Langenes for the ‘Thresor de Chartes, contenant les Tableaux de tous les Pays du Monde’, or the ‘Caert Thresoor’ which was the original Dutch title. With texts by P. Bertius. Published in the Hague in 1600 by Corneille Nicolas in the first French edition of this book (the first Dutch edition was published in 1598, followed by a second edition with added maps in 1599).
The small maps are extremely well engraved, precise and sharp, beautiful compositions (Koeman II, p. 252). This map is from the edition as mentioned in Koeman Lan 3 and is identical to the Dutch edition of 1599. The text was written by Petrus Bertius, brother-in-law of Jodocus Hondius.
