In good condition
Large, old wooden statue of a temple guard (76 cm high). It comes from the Buleleng area on northern Bali and was made between 1940 and 1950. The statues from this area are less refined and baroque than those from south-eastern Bali. This statue is also carved more coarsely, nearly folk art. This type of statue is usually placed out in the open air on Bali, often below a canopy and exposed to the sun and rain. This has weathered the paint. (See the photos.) The weathering nicely accentuates its authenticity though. The statue has a powerful character and is supposed to protect a temple or important building. Height: 76 cm. Diameter of the foot: 23 cm. Weight: 6,600 grams. The statue will be carefully packaged and shipped by registered post.
