Dimitri André

Belonging to the Sande secret society of Sierra Leone, these masks were reserved to women and were used for a ceremony which celebrates the end of the period of reclusion and the initiation of young women.  Magnificent poly-lobed hairstyle topped by a bird. The wood presents a shiny brown patina and pigments.  

This piece will surprise you by its aesthetic and spiritual power.  This piece was used for an initiatory rite.
