I have to talk about this item. I have never seen an Ammolite which has been facetted but this one has and it brings out all of the colours. It looks like a landscape painting, different angles show a variety of patterns. I believe this ammolite ring to be one of the original ammolite rings to be set in to gold. Stunning colours come from this ring and cut in marquise shape. Lets not forget the old cut diamonds added to accent this design.

This gemstone is exciting. Its rarity has escalated it to the top 5 of rare gems including Tanzanite, Diamond, Sapphire, Emerald and Ruby. This ring flashes Red, Green, Blue and Yellow. You dont measure the stone by carat weight but measurement. AA Grade is the highest Grade in this stone. Millions of years old. In order for an Ammonite to be deemed as AA grade it must flash 3 primary colours. In 1981 the GIA registered Ammonite as a certified gemstone. In order for any Ammonite miner to mine for this and sell it they must have a permit. The miner 'John' owner of the Alberta mine has not found any more for a couple of years making this rarer than finding a red diamond. Ammolites were extinct 71 million years ago. One piece of gemstone is very considered acquisition at top jewellery houses such as in Bonhams and Arpels but with terrific high figures.
Ammolite, often referred to as ammonite, is arguably one of the rarest gemstones on earth. Ammolite belongs to a small group of organic gemstones, which also includes amber, coral, jet and pearl. Ammolite is composed of the fossilized shell remains of ammonites, primarily aragonite, the same material that makes up nacreous pearls. Ammolite's highly desirable, opal-like, iridescent play-of-color.
