Narrow trimmed on the image borderline.
The infant constructing the roof of a house; The Virgin, combing flax in preparation for spinning to left; Joseph seen on the top of a house building a roof and the infant Christ walking up a stair helped by two angels.

Hieronymus Wierix (printmaker; Flemish; 1553 - 1619)
One of three brothers, all engravers. Child prodigy. Master in Antwerp in 1572, where remained for the rest of his life. Killed a woman when drunk in 1578. The Wierix are important in Flemish print history. The brothers where natural talents in engraving. They began at a very early age and developed a really virtuoso style. Design was a very natural thing for them and there technical is mostly accumulated in small very detailed and well-done prints. Some experts attribute the quick victory of of the burin-engraving in favour towards woodcuts to there combined efforts.
