Original woodblock triptych by Toyohara Kunichika (1835-1900) - kabuki - 'Act VII: Actors Iwai as Okaru, Aharasaki as Ôboshi Yuranosuke and Ichikawa Sadanji as Teraoka Heiemon' from the play "Kanadehon Chusingura" - Japan - ca. 1880
「仮名手本忠臣蔵 Kanadehon Chushingura)」is a Kabuki title.
This Kabuki play was first performed in the year 1748.
The leftmost person is actor 岩井半四郎 (Iwai Hansirô) as 「おかる(Okaru)」.
The middle person is actor 市川左団次 (Ichikawa Sadanji) as 「寺岡平右衛門(Teraoka Heiemon)」 .
The rightmost person is actor 河原崎三舛(Kawarazaki sanshô) as「大星由良之助(Ohosi Yuranosuke)」
There is an anecdote about Toyohara Kunichika and Kawarazaki sanshô didn't get along.
