Second half 20th century - good condition
Fine face-mask mvondo, tribe of the Lwalwa Peoples,
Featuring a prominent nose bridge, concave mask face with protruding lips and rectangular eyes.
The hole between the nose and mouth originally served to hold a knotted cord. (is held with the teeth)
Masks of this type mvondo were used for initiation rites, but also for hunting ceremonies.
Older piece from german collection.
