Bronze with double brown and gold patina - very good condition - 74 cm

Important and beautiful sculpture that represents a victorious David who sheaths back his sword after killing Goliath, whose head lies on the ground under the foot of David, sculpted by the French master Marius-Jean-Antonin Mercié (1845-1916) . David Vainqueur, also known as David After the Combat, won for Mercie a First Class Medal, and the Croix of the Legion of Honor, making him the only artist who received it while still being a student. The French state commissioned it and exhibited it at the World Exposition of 1873. in memory of the heroic resistance of the city against the Prussian invader during the siege of 1870.
Edited under the artist's license by foundry F. Barbedienne and with seal of mechanical reduction A. Collás
Signed: A+ Mercié.
Branded with the number 109 of its issue.
Dimensions in cm: 74 x 36 x 32.
Weight 12.9 kg
Medal patina in brown and gold with intense gloss.
Given the brightness dimensions and the harmonious movement of the sculpture, it will be the centre of attention in any environment where it is located.
This piece is one of the most appreciated French sculptures.
A larger issue can be found today at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.

You can pick it up directly in Tarragona, by appointment.
It will be packed by registered mail and packed safely and with protection.
