approx. 1930-1940, France (Lyon)
A set of three cinema seats manufactured in the 30s-40s by the company Fourel & Co located in the French city of Lyon. The cinema seats are made of gold-painted cast iron frames that are mounted between the backrests and seat. All parts are fixed with bolts and square or hexagonal nuts. The backrests have an aluminium decorative edge and a metal plate with seat number. The backrests, seats and armrests are made of curved plywood and finished with a red coloured lacquer. The original springs are still present under the seats, so when standing up, the chairs will fold. The black painted beams underneath the frame are not original and are probably added so that the chairs can be used with a modern dining room table. These can easily be removed by loosening the eight roundhead screws. The cinema seats are in original condition and have a good used appearance!
Dimensions: Height: 89 cm, Width: 155 cm, Depth folded: 45 cm, Depth folded open: 62.5 cm
