Volvo - PV51 - 1938
When Volvo starts manufacturing cars in 1926, the company mostly aims at the Swedish market and mainly produces large and luxurious cars which are clearly inspired by the American cars of that time. Only after 12 years of building cars, they release the PV51 on 1 July 1938. And this truly unique, nearly 80 years old car, is now offered up for auction.
The car, which originally was black, was repainted in a decent dark blue colour in 1947. Up to the 1960s, the car was used on a daily basis, but somewhere in that decade the car disappeared into a barn. Only many years later, the car was rediscovered and taken to the Netherlands. Therefore, as far as we know, it is the oldest Volvo in the Netherlands.
Although the car probably still has the same paintwork from 1947, it looks decent. This beautiful Volvo naturally incurred traces of wear, but this is normal for a car of such a respectable age. The red imitation leather interior is in an original and neat condition, this Volvo is in a very good technical condition. This truly is a very special car, only a total of 1754 PV51s were built.
In short, a beautiful and unique Volvo PV51 for the enthusiast.
