Ca. 1950, Belgium, original wooden frame with glass, in good condition
Original formal portrait of King Leopold III in military uniform by R. Marchand.
Presumably ca. 1950.
A formal portrait with a kind-looking and beautifully photographed Leopold III. Different from the mostly distant formal portraits which were made throughout Belgian history.
Black-painted original wooden frame with glass. The frame has some signs of wear, these can be easily removed by repainting.
Personally, I would keep it in original condition, but you, as the buyer, decide!
At the bottom right of the portrait in white letters: par r. marchand.
At the top right of the portrait, there’s a non-disturbing water stain of ca. 3.5 x 1.2 cm in the white rim between portrait and frame.
The portrait and back plate have been fixed in the frame by means of multiple (ca. 23) metal plates, see photos.
The original paper tape on the frame/back plate is torn but can be easily replaced.
Size: ca. 32.3 x 23.3 x 1.4 cm.
