Beautiful, large vellum music page from an Antiphonarium.
Size: 51 x 71.5 cm, size image: 37 x 56 cm.
Presumably from the 16th century, based on calligraphy, the image and the condition and colour of the vellum.
Striking are the two beautiful, coloured initial decorations (11 x 12 cm and 16 x 12 cm). Special is the fact that the lead written writing lines (for the division between margins and image) are clearly visible with holes on the intersections. The pictures provide a good impression of this lot and show all the details.
The condition of the page is very good. The front of the page is still beautiful, cream white, the back is slightly foxed due to its age. No disruptive stains or tears.
The page has some minor creases, see photos. Due to different types of lighting present when the photos were taken, the creases come off somewhat strong sometimes. In reality, they are barely noticeable. Light fading of the black ink of some letters.
The text (Tunc sub patenti specie angelorum etc.) is from the Lauden of the Catholic liturgy of 5 April, the holiday of the holy Vincent Ferrer (1350 - 1419).
A beautiful original Antiphonarium page of 450 years old in very good condition.
