Matra - Simca Bagheera S - 1977

This is a Bagheera in which a lot of work has been invested. It was completely disassembled in the late 1980s. Early 1990s, the chassis was blasted in order to remove signs of corrosion. These spots were polished and new part were welded to the chassis. Subsequently, the chassis was blasted once more and was then treated with epoxy primer. This was followed by an extensive use of an anti-rust substance after which reassembling commenced. At the end of the 1990s, the car was able drive and brake again without any of its bodywork parts. From 2000 to 2017,, further assembling took place and the car is now ready for use. As one can imagine, this did not only require a lot of time but also quite some financial resources. The odometer reading of 87000 km seems to be accurate when you consider the length of the period in which it was used. Nowadays, an intact Bagheera has become very rare. The assembling was performed by the owner and there is still some room for improvement. Various bodywork parts don’t look as if they were assembled optimally and the headlights are not aligned as well as they could. Over the years, the paintwork of the car incurred some traces of wear. Of course, the car does not show any signs of corrosion, the engine runs well and the gearbox was revised. The starter engine and the alternator both work but require some attention. The control of the gearbox needs to be adjusted properly. The rear tyres are new 185-80-13 and the front tyres are still the original 155-80-13 ones. This is an original S model which is thus equipped with double Weber carburettors. Dutch documents are present and include a recently obtained Dutch periodic vehicle inspection which is valid until 22-02-2020. This is a Bagheera which is now ready for use and can be altered to your personal preferences slowly over the course of time. All of the expensive repairs have already been performed. Restoring one will cost a lot more money compared to our current reserve price. This car can be viewed in Wieringerwaard (North Holland), the Netherlands.
