A Chinese Cantonese ivory puzzle compendium, mid-19th century, comprising various carved ivory puzzles including cup-and-ball, an acrobat, jigsaws etc., all contained in a black lacquer box.
As free trade progressively opened up between China and Europe during the early 1800s, items such as these were brought back as gifts and souvenirs from Canton. They were expensive gift and few boxes remain complete with even the booklet.
The lacquered box is in good condition with light wear to the edges and gilding. The The ivory puzzle games are undamaged and in very condition.

- Bar & two beads
- Five square puzzle (tangram)
- Xylographic book with solutions
All the elements are finely crafted and in a very good condition of preservation.
The box dimensions are 34 x 30 x 10 cm.
