Bob Immink was born in 1930 in Amsterdam and grew up in the Spaardammer neighbourhood. He moved to a detached house in Ilpendam when he was 37 years old and had a nice view on the meadows of the Waterland polder. This landscape was often painted by him with the characteristic wide brush. He travelled a lot in his lifetime and made sketches and paintings of the landscape: Greek temples, American mountain landscapes, deserts, abandoned villages on the Spanish plains, etc. A compelled artist trying to reduce the landscapes to their essence. Immink is called a master in omitting. This is intended as a characterisation of his work where all kinds of details are eliminated and only the main things are depicted in vigorous planes, without loosing the recognisability of the depicted landscapes. The vigorous passion of the artist radiates in all his works. Often limited in colour, also that reduced to the most necessary, though sometimes very explosive, without becoming obtrusive or hard. Sensitive and passionate are the best way to describe Immink’s work, brought with a high degree of professionalism.
