This "propeller" coffee table was designed by Knut Hesterberg in 1960 and manufactured by Ronald Schmidt between 1961-1967. The original stands in the "Modern Museum of Art" in New York. Only a very small series of this table was produced.
The bottom frame is made of cast aluminium in the shape of a propeller. Despite being more than 57 years old, there are no signs of wear. The round 20 mm thick table top - diameter 110 cm, made of safety glass (clear) with polished edge, was replaced for the sale. Overall, this table is as good as new.
The retail price of this designer table was around 2,198 DM in 1961.
It is currently being traded in used condition for around 1,700 EUR.
