Engraver: Boëtius A. Bolswert (1580-1633)
Boetius and his brother Schelte Adams (1581-1659) were born in Bolsward Friesland, and built a solid reputation as engravers. Schelte Adams became a good friend of Pieter Paul Rubens and produced some of his best works for this great master of Antwerp Baroque
Inventor: Abraham Bloemaert (1564 - 1651)
Painting engraver born in Dordrecht. Student of, among others, Frans Floris and at the age of 19 working in Haarlem with Cornelis van Haarlem. He became a major: master of Utrecht mannerism, influenced by Hendrik Goltzius and Bartholomaus Spranger. His long life, rare for that time, enabled him to gain an important place in art history.
