For the story: La Rochere glassware, located in Passavant, in the Haute-Saône, was founded in 1475 by Simon de Thysac with the encouragement of the Dukes of Lorraine. It was installed in a place rich in materials needed for the manufacture of glass, such as sand, wood and fern. It especially developed in the 18th century, and then more from its acquisition in 1859 by François-Xavier Fouillot. It remained a family business, and his descendants continue to lead it.
