This mineral is known as "fool's gold" and also, in old times, they were called "the gold of the poor", because of its great similarity with real gold. When this mineral is rubbed with other metals, it produces some sparks by the impact, for which it was very intriguing in ancient times.
The offered lot is of an irregular shape but it can be assimilated within the "cone" type and is made up of many small pentagonal dodecahedral (pyritohedral) crystals of golden colour.
Ambasaguas mine is one of the most important deposits of chalcopyrite. It is located in the region of La Rioja (Spain).
