Autographed stained glass suncatcher – Theo van Zanten – view of the port of Edam

Stained glass suncatcher in beautiful colours, signed by Theo van Zanten. “Glaasemaker” ("Glass-maker") Theo van Zanten had his studio at the cheese market in Edam. According to Van Zanten, there is a big difference between a glazier and a glass-maker: "There is a big difference," he says. "A glazier puts glass in lead, whether it is coloured or not. But a glass-maker, or as I call myself a "glaasemaker", is like a centipede that needs to be able to do everything: designing, drawing, painting, glass painting, glass cutting, burning, setting stained glass into lead, you name it.” New lead was fitted in our own studio in 2018. The lead is patinated, to give it the old look, and the outer edges have been reinforced. Please note the beautiful fine details in the image on the medallion. It has two sturdy hooks. The first 12 photos have been made against a window, the last 5 against a light background (wallpaper). Dimensions: approx. 43 x 33 cm In excellent condition – set firmly in lead, no cracks. Sent by registered mail.
