This is a rare and extraordinary extra antique handmade wool Turkish Hereke carpet. Measuring 465cmx395cm (15.3’x12.10’) circa 1900, this Turkish Hereke wool carpet has all the attributes required from splendid Turkish rugs. A magnificent curvilinear central medallion decorated with floral motifs surrounded by amazingly detailed foliage, spandrels and leaves in the pale white main field, combined with eye-catching borders having decorative trees and leaves in an antique green colour field. Having a Hereke signature at one corner. The pile is in good condition and consistent however the rug may benefit from the wash with few minor spots of wear commiserate with age.
