Gorgeous Italian ceramic earthenware wall plate, with a nicely structured Fat Lava style finish known as Smalto Roccia (stone glaze).
Decorated with a hand painted Effetto Lacca (enamel effect) scene San Marino, a Sgraffito design of a man on a blue glazed background.
Various factories in the San Marino area in Italy have produced ceramic in this style between 1950 and 1980.
This specific wall tile is marked with ‘Ceramica Souvenir R.S.M. 21’. Similar items are pictured in the excellent book Alla Moda - Italian Ceramics of the 1950s - 70s by Mark Hill. It is an extraordinary wall tile, rich in colour and texture.
In very good condition.
It has a width of 12 cm and a height of 34.5 cm.
