Rineke Dijkstra & Jacob Molenhuis (photography); K. Schipers (text); Frido Troost & Willem van Zoetendaal (ed.) - Stofgoud - Amsterdam, Basalt, 1995 - 1st edition - unpaginated - bound, cardboard hardcover - 19.5 × 14.2 cm - condition: fine, with the accompanying belly band, spine is slightly discoloured.

The photographs of Jacob Molenhuis remained unknown until long after his death. In the early 1990s, Frido Troost, a Dutch photography historian, discovered the collection of glass negatives of Jacob Molenhuis in the Spaarnestad Archief. His companion, Willem van Zoetendaal - designer, gallery owner and publisher - helped him organise an exhibition of the work of Jacob Molenhuis during the photofestival Noorderlicht in 1995. Molenhuis’s work was shown along with colour portraits of people from Groningen by the Dutch photographer Rineke Dijkstra (1959). A very special combination! The exhibition led to the publication of the book “Stofgoud” of Willem van Zoetendaal, by publishing house Basalt, with photos of Molenhuis and Dijkstra and an introduction by the poet and essayist K. Schippers. (source: het wonder van de fotografie)

  • The book was not as described. A portion of it was damaged and the seller did not respond to my message. This has soured me on catawiki in general, as I don't feel there is enough support.

    Dear…

I'm so sorry I missed your message. That's very inconsiderate of me. As for the 'poor' condition of the photograph: this is how Erik Kessels found it added it to the book. The individual and unique prints added to this special edition book are all from old 'found' albums hence in often in poor condition. I hope this eases your concerns,
    Kind regards
