This is a nice black fossil tooth of megalodon shark, which is an extinct species of shark that lived approximately 23 to 2.6 million years ago (mya), during the Early Miocene to the end of the Pliocene, found in South Carolina
9.5 cm from the tip of the tooth to the furthest point on the root, which is measured accurately by calipers. In overall very good condition, except some small chips and natural abrasion.
