Good without original packaging
Great piece of rare toy of the famous pre-war German toy manufacturer Lehmann. This is no 690, height approximately 25 cm.
Operation is not optimal, needs to be helped and falters sometimes. That’s normal for such an age. Is in more than excellent condition. Production years from 1914. However, the mechanism is not too complicated, must be absolutely fixable. More than 50 years in family possession.
If shipped abroad, it will be by registered mail.
Ernest P. Lehmann exported large amounts of toys to the United States from 1895 to 1929. Lehmann was specialized in tin transport vehicles. Some of the most well known Lehmann's: Coach, ‘Dancing Sailor' and 'Icarus'.
The company distinguished itself in the beginning of the 20th century by the production of small tin toys that were cheaper than those of the competition.
One of the interesting things about Lehmann toy is, that collectors do not have to worry about replicas. All genuine Lehmann pieces bear the Lehmann logo: an "e", surrounded by a clock or the name Lehmann in relief.
The most attractive Lehmann toys for today's collector were created from the beginning of 1900 to about 1950, a period in which thousands of Lehmann toys were spread all over the world. The company was at its peak with about 800 people. In 1948 the company was taken over by the Russian occupiers, and the toys made after that year did not have the same cache as before, despite being a cousin of the founder the family company restarted in 1951 in former West Germany.
