Polychrome Moor in gilt wood. Period: early 20th century. Murano glass candlestick holder. The candles contain incandescent light bulbs supplied separately, and operating.
Rare sculpture with 19th-century candlestick, depicting a polychrome Venetian Moor. With round base carrying a 5-arm and 5-light blue lamp handmade in Murano glass, surmounted by candles containing incandescent bulbs (modern and replaced in later times). The candlestick is operating.
Given the period of origin, state of preservation is very good. Please note that, unlike many alternatives on the market, this is of 19th-century Venetian origin (well recognizable, to experts, for the processing of the candlestick, which is the most precious element).
I personally think the fake bulb-holder candles should be removed, and replaced with real candles.
The height is approximately 260 cm from base to top of the lamp.
The base is dismountable in the support size of the sculpture and is adorned with mythological animal paws. Polychromy is assured by colours in a good state of preservation, among which pure gold predominates.
