Hell Creek Formation - Perkins County, South Dakota, USA
The Dakotaraptor is one of the largest Dromaeosaurids known. It was the first medium-sized predator in the Hell Creek formation, in between the gigantic Tyrannosaurid and the small and fast Dromaeosaurids. It lived at the end of the Maastrichtian, in the late Cretaceous, thus being one of the last Dromaeosaurids to appear before the great mass extinction.
