Kita Busei was an Edo-period painter known for his birds and flowers paintings. Student of Tani Buncho.
Scroll 1: Crane
Scroll 2: Crane with young bird.
Hand-painted on paper.
Scroll: 39x 182cm.
Painting: 28.5x 97.5cm.
Silk mounting grey-blue.
The paintings have been re-mounted in the past. The thin paper of the painting has some thin areas and some paper-loss (mainly in the upper part of scroll 2), but this is perfectly restored with the re-mounting.
Last picture: reference of signature ("painted at age of 63"), as sold by Bonhams Auctioneers.
