Dui Chirra Kukri / Khukuri The Lion head Kukri comes with a scabbard and the handle is of black horn. Two rivets on the handle, to secure the tang/tail to the handle that is adorned with white metal bands. The blade is fullered "chirra" style made from a variety of steel and engraved with some decoration of floral design and other natural elements. The scabbard is made of wood and covered with black leather of the Regimental Kothimora style with elaborate design on it. On the pommel cap there is the Lion head. Dimensions: 25 x 5.5 cm Handle length 8.5 cm. "The Lion Head Kukri" goes back to the Pre-WW2 period, possibly all the way back to the 1930´s and the Indian Army Officers Corps, consisting of a vast majority British Officers. The Lion head image does appear on the majority of the Gurkha Regiments Officers Cross-belts. The Lion as symbol has frequently been used in Britain, India and Nepal to symbolize power, royalty and strength.
