These Malinke sabres were destined to riders named sofa: they distinguished themselves in the war led at the end of the 19th century by Samory against the French who colonised Western Africa by then. The curves blades were even inspired by the French. However, the leather sheath is inspired by the Arab-Berber leather trade. This item is well-preserved and presents a nice patina of wear. Dimensions: Length: 71 cm. Width: 5 cm. Weight: 588 grams.
