Porcelain statue of "infant Jesus of Prague ' from the 1950s
Beautiful porcelain statue of the "infant Jesus of Prague ' from the 1950. The statue was made in Belgium and is still in very good condition (no damage). The very nice colours of the statue are noteworthy (see photos).
Dimensions: 31.5 x 14 cm
In the 16th century, a figurine of Spanish origin was bequeathed to the order of the Carmelites. Miracles were soon attributed to the figurine. The Infant Jesus caused a bumper crop of grapes in the vineyards on the Petrin hill. It prevented that Prague was set to fire on the orders of the Swedish King. The monastic community was spared when a plague epidemic broke out in Prague. Even now, many miracles are attributed to the Infant Jesus of Prague.
