Wies Peleman, Original art work/gouache for the Cover of the LP-Album, "Satch plays Fats"- End of the 1950's. Dimensions 26 x 26 cm. Mounted under a black passe-partout. Very fine condition.
Wies Peleman studied at the Royal Academy of Mechelen. He is a well-known Belgian artist/cartoonist/ ceramist, who has published in De Standaard, Vooruit, De Post and Ons Volk. He released the cartoon book 'Zonder Woorden' at Editions Bogard in 1965. He regularly made illustrations for the Standaard supplement Pats in the 1960s. He also contributed cartoons and gag pages to the magazine. Most of these gag pages were independent stories, but Peleman also drew comics like 'Meneer Kommix & Strip', 'Pim en Pom in de Zoo', 'Prietpraat Ballon' and 'Adam aan Zee'. He worked in the style of Saul Steinberg. In later years, Peleman focused on ceramics.
He did also these cover illustrations for LP's in the 1950's.
Very rare surviving example of an original LP- cover designed for a Jazz album.
