ALPINA - 592 Wehrmacht Type - 445547 - Men - WW2 Circa 1940

◄N.B. Photos of the watch are taken in natural light (daylight) with the exception of those taken in the workshop. I use a Leica macro lens so in enlarged photos you will see things that you would not normally see with the naked eye. Furthermore I do not use a photo enhancement software programme. You should note that I may not relist this watch on Catawiki if it does not sell. I will not lower the Reserve price if one has been set, so making a very large bid at the start may not result in my lowering the Reserve towards the end of the auction.► Auction type: Reserve Manufacturer: Alpina Circa: 1940 Diameter excluding crown: 33.73mms Lug tip to lug tip: 39.83mms Thickness: 9.85mms Inside lugs: 18.84mms Case shape: Round Case condition: Above average for age and type of use, with an honest patina - see HD photos Case metal: Steel with stainless steel back Case colour: Metallic silver Dial condition: Good - in original condition with an honest patina - see HD photos Dial colour: Light champagne Script on dial: Alpina Jewel count: 15 Adjustments: None Numerals/Markers: 2, 4,8, 10 & 12 in Arabic numerals interspersed with "gold" Arrow markers and sub second dial at 6 o'clock Hands: "Leaf" Strap: New hand made high quality French leather strap;fits wrist to 19.70cms Script on movement: See HD photos Script on case &/or case back: N/A Script inside case &/or case back: See HD photos Movement type: Alpina in-house 17 jewel sub second with Incabloc, calibre #592. Google 'Alpina 592 ranfft' for more information on this iconic movement Movement condition: Good, recently serviced (11/17) and keeping time Box &/or Papers: None History & Notes: A good WW2 period Alpina 592, very probably military issue. Please note that though the movement is Swiss these watches were assembled in wartime Germany and as such were considered to be of German manufacture. Accordingly the dials were not marked "Swiss Made". Accordingly the case backs carried no D/DH import contract numbers. You should also note that the old radium lume has been removed and replaced with period type paint (non-lume). in order to protect the dial from decaying lume particles. Furthermore the very worn crown has been replaced with the correct type (bell shape). As always I urge you to examine the High Definition photos carefully as they form the major part of this vintage Alpina's description. The watch will be well wrapped (see my Feedback and bid with confidence!) and shipped via Colissimo International Insured & Signed For. E & O E © AntMat's Auto Matters & Watches 2018
