St. Estèphe 3ème Cru Classé

Bottle size: Bottle (0.75L)
Number of bottles: 3
Region: Bordeaux
Year: 2004

"This 2004 comes across like their 1988. An unusually high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%) was blended with 30% Merlot, resulting in a dense ruby/purple-colored, slightly herbaceous Calon-Segur possessing a tapenade/olive characteristic along with plump, rich black cherries, truffles, underbrush, and black currants. Medium to full-bodied with plenty of sweet tannin, excellent purity, and a broad mouthfeel. It will require 3-4 years of cellaring, and should keep for two decades." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, April 2005

"Intense aromas of currant bush and berries that turn to roses. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a floral, leafy and fruity aftertaste. Builds on the palate. Needs time." 90/100 Wine Spectator, March 2007

" ...dark ruby/plum color, nicely evolved notes of roasted herbs, sweet cherries and currants, and loamy earth, medium-weight, light to moderate tannin, and an elegant style." 89/100 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, June 2007

"Deep ruby-red. Aromas of cherry, mocha, milk chocolate and iron. Chewy and on the dry side but stuffed with flavors of cherry, plum, iron, tobacco and mocha. This has fat and sweetness for the year, along with a suggestion of herbs. Finishes with dusty tannins and moderate lift." 89/100 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, June 2007
