Especially nice antique, earthenware fruit basket by Tichelaar, Makkum. This concerns a basket in blue-white Delft Blue (Delftware), opened-up/ajour cut along the edges. The edge and handles are made as if they are were rope. The bottom is identical to the fruit-filled basket. This basket is renowned from the Youtube hit – ‘Meneer Mandje’ - From Deventer, The Netherlands. Hand painted and clearly marked. In very good condition, with only minor flakes along the top edge (mint condition). Year: 1890-1910. Painter: Jelle de Jong (1855-1927). It has a diameter of 27 cm. It has a height, including handles, of 11 cm. It weighs 660 grams. Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum enjoys national and international fame for its extensive assortment of decorative tiles and earthenware, made from the local yellow clay. These were handmade piece by piece and hand painted in the traditional way. This makes every item by Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum unique.
