Bearpaw Formation, Late Cretaceous, Approx. 71 MYA, Alberta, Canada

Offered here is a beautiful, large ammolite specimen. The colourful and bright ammolite specimen measures just over 14cm. X approximately 5.5cm at it's largest dimensions and 1.9cm thick at its thickest point.

This is a piece of the negative impression of the outer venter of a large Placenticeras ammonite. It is slightly concave in nature as it is the counter-fossil of the convex ammonite. It still possesses quite a lot of ammolite and the range of colours and "fire" present is excellent.

The primary colour present is green, with flashes of blue and turquoise throughout. There are flashes of reds golds and oranges as well in many areas of the surface.

It has a fairly smooth surface but overall has a slight convex curve over the whole surface. The play of colours as it is moved under the light is excellent as it is "fractured" type ammolite or ammolite from the "K-Zone" of the Bearpaw Formation. This specimen is suitable for display or possibly wire wrapping. It is not a completely polished and stabilized gemstone.

It comes with a certificate of Authenticity

Ammolite is one of the rarest gemstones on Earth. It is found in one small 10 sq. km pocket of southern Alberta, Canada.

The Supplier warrants that they have obtained this lot in a legal manner. Acquired from the Korite Mine in Alberta, Canada. Export Permits issued from the Federal Government of Canada are supplied where needed.

Customs and Duties Charges will be applicable to the buyer
