Bearpaw Formation, Late Cretaceous, Approx. 71 MYA, Alberta, Canada

Offered here is a beautiful, large ammolite specimen. The colourful and bright ammolite specimen measures approximately 17cm. X 15cm at it's largest dimensions and 1.3cm thick at its thickest point.

This is a large piece of the whorl of a large Placenticeras ammonite. It is slightly concave in nature near the whorl but becomes convex near the outer portions of the ammonite. It still possesses quite a lot of ammolite and the range of colours and "fire" present is excellent.

The primary colours present are orange and green. It also displays red, gold, burgundy with flashes of blue and turquoise present as well.

It has a very uneven surface which gives the piece a lot of character and amplifies the play of colours as it is moved under the light. This specimen is suitable for display or possibly wire wrapping. It is not a completely polished and stabilized gemstone.

It comes with a certificate of Authenticity

Ammolite is one of the rarest gemstones on Earth. It is found in one small 10 sq. km pocket of southern Alberta, Canada.

The Supplier warrants that they have obtained this lot in a legal manner. Acquired from the Korite Mine in Alberta, Canada. Export Permits issued from the Federal Government of Canada are supplied where needed.

Customs and Duties Charges will be applicable to the buyer
