Manuscript on palm leaves, Southeast Asia or Southern India, 19th century.
Palm leaves (6 pieces, painted on one side and described) are carved with a stylus and then dyed with a mixture of oil and carbon black.
They are also protected at the top and bottom with a bamboo lid used as a cover with beautiful engravings (Buddhist scenes and floral decorations).
Good condition considering its age (see photo)

In the illustrations we can find meditation scenes, hunting and fishing scenes, animal, demon protectors. (I think it is the tale of a legend)

Palm leaf manuscripts are manuscripts made out of dried palm leaves.
Palm leaves were used as writing material in the Indian subcontinent and in Southeast Asia.
Their use began in South Asia and spread elsewhere
Palm leaves especially used were: Borassus (Palmyra Palm) or the Ola leaf (talipot palm or the leaf of corypha umbraculifera).
