Bearpaw Formation, Late Cretaceous, Approx. 71 MYA, Alberta, Canada

Offered here is a beautiful, large ammolite specimen that has been carved, shaped and polished to resemble a squid. It comes with a custom-made display stand made from a chunk of the Bearpaw Shale. The colourful ammolite specimen measures approximately 21cm. X 13cm at it's largest dimensions and 0.8cm thick at its thickest point. The rock stand measures approximately 13cm. X 9cm at it's largest dimensions and 3cm thick at its thickest point. Together they weigh 767g with the ammolite piece weighing 219g.

This is a large piece of primarily purple, blue and green ammolite specimen from a large Placenticeras ammonite. It is slightly concave in nature which suggests that it is a counter-fossil. It still possesses quite a lot of ammolite on the rare end of the spectrum and possesses quite a lot of "fire". It has a very smooth surface.

It has been polished on the front to highlight the shape of the whorl while the back side has a detailed carving of a squid.

This piece was prepared by Alberta artisan and ammolite technician Dave Straat.

It comes with a certificate of Authenticity

Ammolite is one of the rarest gemstones on Earth. It is found in one small 10 sq. km pocket of southern Alberta, Canada.

The Supplier warrants that they have obtained this lot in a legal manner. Acquired from the Korite Mine in Alberta, Canada. Export Permits issued from the Federal Government of Canada are supplied where needed.

Customs and Duties Charges will be applicable to the buyer.

Great specimen!! Good packaging and sending. Just 1 thing: there is a misspelling on the certificate. In the small letters it says canda fossils instead of canada. But the ammolite is very beautifull!
