Offered here is a natural, one-of-a-kind ammonite fossil. This Placenticeras costatum fossil is approximately 44 cm. in diameter and 6 cm. in width at the widest part. It weighs 6.5 kg. This is an extremely beautiful two-sided ammonite. It displays extremely bright colours throughout, including different shades of reds, oranges, yellows, greens and lots of the rare blues and purples. This ammonite has great shape and distinct patterns only found in these fossils
This fossil is polished to reveal the colours present as well as the natural shape present in these fossils. It comes with a wood display stand.
This fossil was collected from the Korite Mine in southern Alberta, Canada. It is from sediments that are approximately 71 MYA. The formation is the famous Bearpaw formation.
It has been numbered and registered with the province of Alberta and will need a Federal Export Permit from the Government of Canada to leave the Canada. The seller will provide this as well as a Certificate of Authenticity for provenance. The seller warrants the legality of this fossil and the certificate of authenticity will bear this disposition number.
Ammolite and Canadian ammonites are one of the rarest gemstones on Earth. They are found in one small 10 sq. km pocket of southern Alberta, Canada.
