Natural Fossil Ammonite Placenticeras costatum From St. Mary River Basin in Alberta, Canada

Offered here is a natural, one-of-a-kind ammonite fossil. This Placenticeras costatum is approximately 45.0 cm in diameter, roughly centered in a 94 cm wide by 84 cm tall Bearpaw shale matrix, the ammonite and shale weigh approximately 93 kg. This is an extremely bright and beautiful matrix specimen with excellent shape in a very sculpturally appealing matrix. Very pronounced ribbing in the living chamber is highlighted with all the colours of the visible spectrum on display. From deep blues to rich reds and greens, this specimen has them all.

This fossil is polished to reveal the colours present as well as the natural shape present in these fossils.

This ammonite has been inlayed in this piece of natural Bearpaw shale from southern Alberta, Canada. The back has been stabilized and a piece of wood has been attached for easy hanging. It comes with hanging bars.

This fossil was collected from the banks of the St. Mary River in southern Alberta, Canada. It is from sediments that are approximately 71 MYA. The formation is the famous Bearpaw formation.

It has been numbered and registered with the province of Alberta and will need a Federal Export Permit from the Government of Canada to leave the Canada. The seller will provide this as well as a Certificate of Authenticity for provenance. The seller warrants the legality of this fossil and the certificate of authenticity will bear this disposition number.

Ammolite and Canadian ammonites are one of the rarest gemstones on Earth. They are found in one small 10 sq. km pocket of southern Alberta, Canada.

The Supplier warrants that they have obtained this lot in a legal manner. Acquired from the Korite Mine in Alberta, Canada. Export Permits issued from the Federal Government of Canada are supplied where needed.
