Large butterfly brooch in low-grade gold and silver with 2.50 ct of sapphires, 1 ct of rose cut diamonds, 3 mabe pearls, 1 carnelian and 2 zircons. Sicily, 1920s-30s. Original butterfly brooch which also has a hook so it can be worn as a pendant, made of low-grade gold and 800 silver. The middle part is set with rose cut diamonds and sapphires for a total of 3.5 ct, at the sides and underneath there are three large light grey-silvery mabe pearls, very bright, and at the top there is a carnelian cabochon, 2 zircons for the antennae and 2 small emeralds for the feet. This is a semi-antique item of jewellery, very carefully made, very original and very eye-catching given its size. Total size: 8 x 7 cm; the central part with the gemstones measures 3 x 2.5 cm, and the pearls approx. 2.8 x 1.9 cm. It is in very good condition with no missing parts, only a very small crack in one pearl, measuring just few mm and very thin, half the width of a hair, highlighted in the photos. It has no hallmarks, but it has been carefully tested and matches the description.
