Jennens & Bettridge.
The company Jennens & Bettridge was the main manufacturer of papier-mâché. Their goods were usually embellished with decorations and were sometimes inlaid with mother-of-pearl, a technique invented and patented by this company. The company was based in Birmingham, but opened a branch in London and Paris. Jennens & Bettridge were officially designated papier-mâché manufacturers by King George IV, William IV and Prince Albert. In 1851 they showed several goods at the Great Exhibition. Most of the papier-mâché items are not marked, but the ones by Jennens & Bettridge were usually printed with the company name. It appears at the bottom.
