An exquisite Art Deco sculpture of the winged and tragic Greek methodological conquerer of the skies, Icarus in green/brown patinated bronze by the French artist Pierre Le Faguays.
Pierre Le Faguays was born in Nantes, France and became famous for the originality and the novel approach implemented in his creations. He gained wide recognition inter alia receiving a medallion d’honneur for his work in 1927. Besides his own name he also frequently signed with two pseudonyms Fayral and Guerbe.
He was considered among the leading sculptors of his epoch in France and his work is still widely praised for its high quality and attention to anatomical accuracy and details. These qualities are abundantly visible in the masterful artwork offered here. A really hard to find and outstanding bronze sculpture by Pierre Le Faguays.
Date of manufacture circa 1928. Excellent condition with aged multi-coloring patina.The bronze measures an impressive 50 cm in height 20 cm in width and 8 cm in breath. It is signed on the rocky bronze plinth which in turn is mounted on and attached a 3 cm thick black/gray marble base. It will be securely packed for registered shipment.
