Ford Taunus 12M Mappemonde (globe) model G13AL from 1955 Description: Rare model: this is the first phase of the 12M globe, the first generation of post-war Ford Taunus. Recognizable by the vertical chrome grille and its globe emblem on the bonnet, sign of Ford’s global presence. A bit of history: In 1952, after the Second World War, Ford relaunched its plant in Cologne, Germany, to create the first ultra-modern post-war German Ford for the time. This saloon was a reliable and robust luxury car designed for an affluent clientele. 12M, the “M” standing for Masterpieces. The code of this model is G13AL, being: (G: Germany, 1: development after 1951, 3: 1,2 litre type engine, A: air, L: luxury version) Why "L" for luxury? because a standard version model G13A that was then called the Taunus 12 without the M, created for the less a wealthy clientele on the market. The vehicle: This vehicle has been restored a few years back . It is in very good working condition. 3 owner (the second was a professional mechanic). This vehicle was always driven and well maintained. Always in a dry garage. It runs and starts like clockwork. The 12cc engine is robust and runs well. Engine: Large overall revision done in 2018. Engine seals and transmission. New brakes, the master cylinders and brake pistons have been replaced. New carburettor, and an electric fuel pump for more engine comfort. A large revision was done in 2018, new battery, new spark plugs. The original interior is very lovely and clean. The seats and upholstery restored true to the original. Original Ford green colour, the paint is pretty even if it is not perfect, there are signs wear in spots. The body is on the whole in good condition with some small dents and signs of wear in spots. The chassis and the frame are very healthy, there is no perforating corrosion. The Ford document holder is original, it contains many period documents as well as the maintenance booklet and the invoice of the first owner from the PLASMAN dealership in 1956. in perfect condition. Belgian classic cars MOT and registration, as well as a Ford certificate. Two keys. Delivered with two period maintenance and workshop repair books in super condition. The original jack is also supplied. There are two new shock absorbers in a box that are also supplied. In the event that these will need to be replaced one day. This is a used vehicle.
