Very good condition
Porcelain statuette with moveable head and loose tongue. A so called "Dancing Monkey".
This monkey is numbered underneath with the number 0721. Quite peculiar to say the least. These figures were already being made halfway through the 19th century, usually as Netsuke. The statuette is larger and is rather a decorative object resembling a monkey in traditional clothing. The face, hands and feet have an iridescent glaze. The monkey wears a striped hat with the sun and the moon of Japan. The kimono is decorated with floral motifs and has a depiction on the back featuring the Japanese flag and a crane.
These monkeys are globally collected.
Overall in excellent condition.
Dimensions: 21 x ± 10 x 9 cm.
Weight is 354 gram.
